Essential oil of tangerine

The essential oil of tangerine is produced by cold-pressing from fresh peel of Citrus reticulate. It has the typical citrus scent, fresh, radiant and tangy sweet. It is reddish orange to brownish orange liquid with a pleasant orange-like color.

Tangerine essential oil, lie most of the citrus family, has particularly refreshing and rejuvenating characteristics.

It is soluble in most fixed oils and in mineral oil, slightly soluble in propylene glycol, and relatively insoluble in glycerin. It may contain a suitable antioxidant.

Essence oil from tangerine also can be separated during the preparation of concentrated tangerine juice. However, it is rarely collected because it often has a fishy aroma that does not enhance the flavor of tangerine concentrate.

Tangerine essential oil, like most of the citrus family, has particularly refreshing and rejuvenating characteristics. Its aroma clears the mind and can help to eliminate emotional confusion. Main constituents of tangerine essential oil are limonene, methyl methylanthranilate, geraniol, citral, citronellal, n-octylaldehyde, cadinene and linalool.

Tangerine oil contains about 8% of tetraterpenes. They are one of the prime sources of color.

User may see tangerine used in perfumes, and soaps as an antispasmodic, carminative, digestive, diuretic, sedative, stimulant and tonic agent.
