Quality Management System

Quality management systems are elaborate management systems that can be used by any organization to develop and achieve its quality objectives.

The system can be defined as any set of interdependent parts performing a specific function or set of functions.  A quality management system is that part of the organization’s overall management system that includes ‘the collective plans, activities and events that are provided to ensure that a product, process or service will, satisfy given needs’.

These systems are intended to provide a company with the capability to meet all quality requirements.

Quality management systems include four fundamental activities:
*Planning
*Performance
*Measurement
*Improvement

The characteristics of a Quality Management Systems in regard to quality include the following:
*The establishment of policy and objectives by an organization to manage resource.
*The assignment of responsibilities and authority to personnel
*The development of a an organizational structure among the personnel.
